Do them in this order. Do not start with verbs.

    46 sounds, not an alphabet. A mora is a beat, not an English syllable.

    Learn the characters

    The hiragana chart: 46, then dakuten, handakuten, yōon, and っ.

    Quiz

    One question at a time, with a score and a retry. The full question set comes in the next build.

    What katakana is

    The other kana set. Loanwords, names, menus, and emphasis.

  5. 05

    Learn the characters

    The same grid in katakana, including ヨ.

  6. 06

    Grammar

    Verb last. Particles label the words. Same four nouns the whole way.

    Basic sentences

    One new move per sentence: です, particles, past, ません, たい, か.

    How verbs work

    る, う, and する・くる. Only dictionary, ます, ない, and て.

    20 verbs
